Third KB Racing Pro Stocker returns to battle at Charlotte inaugural

On Friday, an agreement between KB Racing and Wilson Manifolds was reached, confirming Rob Mansfield as driver of the third KB/Summit Racing Pro Stocker at the forthcoming NHRA Charlotte inaugural.  The car will be prepared in the same Wilson/Summit Racing livery presented during its recent debut at the 54th NHRA US Indy Nationals. At Indianapolis, Wilson’s full-time manifold staff distinguished themselves by pitting their collective drag racing skills against the best of NHRA’s Pro Stock’s seasoned veterans.  They came within .003 (three thousandth of a second) of qualifying. Relations between NHRA and NASCAR have rarely been closer than those of this coming weekend. NASCAR fans still regard 39 year old Jason Line, the 2006 NHRA Pro Stock champion, as one of their own.  Before joining with Greg Anderson in 2003, Line had served NASCAR for five years in Charlotte, bringing Winston Cup Championship victories to Bobby Labonte (2000) and Tony Stewart (2002) while engaged with the Joe Gibbs Racing Team. Keith Wilson’s induction reputation was formed in NASCAR racing. His influence on the NASCAR scene, notably his pioneering advances in both restrictor-plate and open manifold designs has been at the forefront since 1985.  Wilson’s friendship with Line was formed when the two were engaged in developing NASCAR intake systems for Joe Gibbs Racing in the late nineties. The Wilson team will continue to work closely with KB Racing, exploring opportunities for a full NHRA Pro Stock program in...

Indy Debut for Wilson Manifolds with third KB Racing Pro Stock Car

For Immediate Release To avoid diverting their efforts to additional mid-season testing, KB Racing will debut a third Pro Stock race car at this year’s US Nationals. The car will be run by KB’s induction specialists Wilson Manifolds of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Wilson Manifolds and KB Racing have enjoyed an exclusive arrangement since the team’s inception. Keith Wilson and Jason Line speak of induction development almost daily. Occasionally, these discussions create more new parts to test than time allows. To stay ahead with their test program without jeopardizing their Pro Stock points lead, KB Racing and Wilson Manifolds decided to join forces and enter a third Summit Racing Pro Stock car in this year’s 54th annual Mac Tools US Nationals at Indianapolis. This third car will be driven by Wilson Manifold’s employee, Robbie Mansfield. Forty-four year old Mansfield has accumulated years of experience with Dingman Racing in cars of this caliber. In fact, he’s not only uniquely qualified for the driving position but also from the testing objective. Mansfield is the consummate insider. As manager of Wilson’s sheet metal division, he resides in the secretive world of Pro Stock and Funny Car induction designs. He also presides over the company’s interests in NASCAR and in a dozen other series. His addition to the KB Racing team is aimed at adding an unexpected element to the event, attracting further exposure for KB’s sponsor, and Wilson’s distributor, Summit Racing, and providing the KB team with more valuable data.
